July??? I’m sort of amazed. You would think that I would adjust to the passage of time, after a few years…
Remember – there will be posts every weekday this week, and on both Monday and Tuesday next week. Because these posts for the paintings aren’t very big, I give you lots of them all in a row!
Let’s jump into this perfectly perfect summer painting:
So many of us have been living with ridiculously hot weather for a while, so it was easy to get into the mood to get this heroine some true summer clothes!
Earrings – Jardin; hat – J.Crew; navy linen shirt – J.Crew; print tank top – Duluth Trading Company; navy chino shorts – L.L.Bean; striped tee – L.L.Bean; sandals – Teva
I cheated just a bit on the Weekly Timeless Wardrobe; I’m calling the striped tee shirt “sleeveless” when of course it isn’t! But our heroine already has all of her tee shirts, and I felt pretty comfortable that finding another print sleeveless top was going to be DIFFICULT… So I cheated!
There are no referees at The Vivienne Files…
I really love the colors of this wardrobe. Navy and beige are so uncomplicated and classic, but the green and blue clothes brighten up everything:
And her accessories are both fun and practical:
Obviously, our heroine has plenty of options for how to wear her new garments. As always, if you don’t have ideas, you don’t want to buy something.
I particularly like to remember that a tank top can be a perfect thing to wear under a cardigan on those days when the weather is going to be somewhere between nippy in the morning and sweaty in the afternoon!
It’s difficult to find a good way to wear shorts in the colder weather, but it’s nice to see that most of what you buy for summer can also carry into much of the rest of the year. No reason to pack things away if you still wear them, right?
love,
Janice

p.s. Ten years ago, our painting was by Augustus John, with stunning turquoise, camel and gold…

This is so pretty and practical! I love the blue and green floral tank for the new piece this month. Duluth Trading Post…who knew? You have inspired me to give them a look!
My favorite of this capsule remains those super cute pretzel earrings. I just love the touch of whimsy! For what it’s worth, these every day posts make me so happy. I love checking in with you while I have my coffee each day. So, having one each day makes for a special week.
I have to say, The Archives are a very good stopgap on Tuesdays and Thursdays….
What a nice surprise this morning! I love love love these colors. I also love the blue and green floral tank. All the wardrobes are so outstanding this year, it would be hard to pick a favorite, but this might be it for me. (watch me say that every day this week) I do wear a lot of blue and green, so just on the colors alone this could be mine. Thank you Janice!
I love this wardrobe. And thanks for including all links.
Beautiful surprise this morning to see this post for me as well. 7 am and it is already 23 degrees out!(86 degrees F) sitting on my deck sipping coffee and so enjoying this blog. This is one of my favourites, but as another reader mentioned, so many lovely scenarios this year hard to pick just one. Will be looking forwards to the rest of the posts this week. Thank you Janice.
Oh what a treat to see you 2 days in a row! I’m playing nursemaid/fetch-it for the next week so this is a welcome break. Love this color way for summer. I added the linen dress you showed from Jjill in your green dress post. It’s a beautiful green/aqua shade and I think it will serve me well in replicating this wardrobe.
It’s very hot here this week… I’m still wearing my summer dresses.
The new arrivals are again beautifully selected, including a gorgeous patterned top. I like the selection of bags.
I agree with the others: I really like all the capsules this year.
I’m looking forward to the daily posts.
A print tank top! That’s my take-away from today. Belatedly, happy birthday Janice! Love the striped tee also. And this wardrobe!
I bought a green dress I had my eye on after last week’s post. The only other green garment I have is a pair of hiking shorts. This post reminded me of a neck gaiter I bought years back through a link Janice had. She presented it in navy and white and I ordered the watercolor version. I found it put away and am delighted it will go well with the green dress while pulling in my favorite blues as well!
So far, this is my favorite. I would definitely wear certain greens and blues together in some outfits.
And, I still say Georgia was far more talented than her husband!
Agreed! Her work is stunning…
love,
Janice
