Want Lots of Accent Colors? The Meredith Wing Scarf by Echo

January 17, 2025

This scarf scream warm weather to me, but I’m pretty certain that we can figure out ways to wear it every month of the year!

scarf – Echo

There are a few additional colors from the scarf that I could have included, but I felt that these 3 colors, plus black and white, were the most visible:

scarf – Echo

Even in the coldest weather, a warm sweater and some accessories that go with it will always be useful. And if your new scarves just happens to go with your sweater…

sweater – Loop Cashmere; earrings – Saule Label; scarf – Echo; bag – Landa; bracelet – Nellou Jewellery; flats – Journee Collection

If you like to wear “suit-like” pairings of clothes, a new accent tee shirt is always handy! Yes, the jewelry is VERY inexpensive (aka cheap), but it’s a good way to test-drive how much you like this color without going nuts. If you decide to upgrade at a late date, you certainly may!

Dusty purple tee – L.L.Bean; earrings – Monet; bracelet – Monet; scarf – Echo; bag – Gianni Chiarini; loafers – Rag & Co.

By this time of year, even the most retiring among us might be tempted to wear some red! And of course St. Valentine’s Day is a good excuse…

Berry rouge tee – Lands’ End; velvet headband – Tasha; earrings – Coach; scarf – Echo; bag – Mac Duggal; flats – Journee Collection

For some of us, wearing the scarf with our favorite neutral is always going to be the plan!

Black cashmere sweater – L.L.Bean; onyx earrings – The Jewellery Store; bracelet – Shymi; scarf – Echo; bag – Zatchels; loafers – Easy Spirit

Or maybe you’re ready to start planning ahead – get your favorite sandals NOW, while all of the sizes are still available!

Oversized white cotton shirt – J.Crew; earrings – Saks Fifth Avenue; bracelet – Kenneth Jay Lane; scarf – Echo; bag – Alkeme Atelier; sandals – Dolce Vita

Of course, you may have already realized that you can mix these 36 items up any way you want. Love all black and white? Feel like combining acid lime green with purple?

WHY NOT? Let’s all bust out and do what we feel in our hearts makes us happy. It’s only clothing…

love,

Janice

p.s. Ten years ago, we accessorized a grey capsule wardrobe with beautiful turquoise and shades of blue.

The purple reminds me of the colour of hyacinths.

I should add that even if we love a colour, not all shades or tones will suit us. Mid to dark tones suit me best but icy tones have to be worn with a mid-tone underneath. This purple is ideal for me. I love red but not bright red as it lacks the soft and muted tones I look best in. Raspberry red is better.

I find this whole colour palette cheerful and uplifting, but will it suit me? Not sure.
Beth is right. It isn’t enough to love a colour. It is a good starting point though..Time to shop my closet with new eyes, and maybe spring for an accessory or two. Cheers!

Yes, I agree. I also look best in mid to dark tones.

That scarf will deliver some mileage. It’s delightfully whimsical. And-ooooh that red! 😍

You are speaking my language today! I just love brights with neutrals. I can any of these top color combinations as easily paired with jeans as they could be with dress pants. I can also envision these with a casual denim skirt and chunky boots, as well as a bias cut slip skirt and heels. My favorite, by far, is the key lime. I don’t have anything in this shade but I’m now sorely tempted.

Additionally, I’m so mad about this scarf that I’d consider having it professionally framed to hang in my dressing room!

I really like the key lime and the purple; I actually bought a purse similar to the one here, but am having a hard time incorporating it into my wardrobe. Any suggestions for someone who wears a lot of black and white (core) in the winter and navy, beige and white in the summer?
    I bought earrings as well.
    Thanks

Why not wear the purple purse with the black and white outfit. It would add a nice pop of color.
I am contemplating the purple shoes. Beautiful shoes are a joy.

The idea with the black and white seems a good place to start….for a pop of colour. Takes away from the minus temperatures we have been experiencing here in Canada.

Considering the weather… what color is your coat? Do you have a scarf that works with the purse? Or perhaps shoes? (Or a scarf that ties the purse AND shoes). Sometimes I feel like I need another item or 2 to go with the color to make it work. Here I’m thinking: Black coat, black shoes, purple hat and scarf, purple bag. Or if its summer where you are now, white top, navy bottom, purple earrings, bracelet & purse (or purple earrings, sandals and purse – somehow earrings, bracelet, sandals AND purse would be too much for me. but that’s just me). Same would work replacing purple for lime.

So right about the 2nd item in the same colour…even if it’s nail polish. I think the idea of a scarf (have more than plenty) to tie the purse and usually a black or heathered grey coat….with the purse appeals tome.
Thanks for the tips and considerations.
        The sun is beautiful today…

I have a woolen jacket in the purple. I would wear it with grey, navy, dark purple, teal or plum.

What an absolutely charming scarf. Sometimes its a real shame to have a scarf with a pretty print, but by the time you fold it for wearing the print gets lost. I agree with Ellen – I have a couple I would think about framing and putting up for artwork. Have a nice weekend everyone!

Re:red. February 7 is Go Red day in the US for National Women’s Heart Health Day. And the whole month is Women’s Heart Health Month. Good reasons to wear red next month!

Hi Janice, just came back to this one to hope all is well. I do recall you were taking things at your own pace, which I’m sure all of us encourage you to do. Prayers on your way!
    Cheers and blessings to all!

I love it when you create these “accessory bundles” and pair them with a terrific top – they are so inspirational. It’s so easy to imagine different bottoms and toppers to add for a complete outfit. It’s also fun to think about swapping out the top for a different one, creating an entirely new look using the exact same accessory bundle.

    You’re a gem and a genius!!

I was really on the verge of letting go of this obsession I’ve had for the last year, of making those lime/white grape colors work with a shocking mandarin, almost tomato red. It’s such an unusual pairing and I was so close to deciding it was an outlier that couldn’t work. And look what you did!!
And you even snuck a purple in there. 😍

Thanks. I was so sure I was going to end up with the lime and baby blue and teal, which is nice but I feel like an Easter egg.

This is so bold and full of pizazz! Looking forward to seeing how it develops. Thanks again for the inspiration!
