I don’t believe I’ve ever before been SO happy to see January end…
You asked for another swimsuit, and I hasten to satisfy. This was a specific request, and I can see why!
Honestly, isn’t “Summersalt” the best brand name for swimwear?
My first instinct – I think it would be so for a lot of us – was bright colors. But then when I really spent some time with the image of the swimsuit, I found myself more and more drawn to the soft pink, and the lighter shades of orange..
But let’s start with white – always right for hot weather and being near the water:
gauze shirt – L.L.Bean; short-sleeved gauze top – L.L.Bean; tank top – L.L.Bean; gauze pants – L.L.Bean
Next I knew we had to find some soft pink. While the cardigan might seem sort of dressy, I thought that (1) it was worth showing to you, because it’s lovely! and (2) it would be useful for those days when our heroine wants to present a slightly “pulled-together” look.
Shell pink linen shirt – L.L.Bean; pale rose tee – L.L.Bean; rose shadow jeans – L.L.Bean; cardigan – & Other Stories
This dress is actually mid-calf; I could imagine wearing it a TON in the super-hot weather…
Peach tee shirt – L.L.Bean; sweet mango floral shirt – Lands’ End; gauze dress – L.L.Bean; denim shorts – Lands’ End
Our heroine feels like she’s in a feminine stage of life. I can’t explain this, but I was certainly able to find some extremely pretty things for her to wear in the evenings, or when she’s going into town and wants to make a nice impression. There could be romance involved, right? There can ALWAYS be romance…
Oh, this is SO not my style, but I wouldn’t mind wearing all of this for a couple of weeks:
I’m not showing an outfit with the pink dress, but everything else mixes up beautifully. Accessories would be where the pink dress would show it’s versatility.
Our heroine realizes that another swimsuit – or two! – would be handy. And coverups too!
Sunset ombre one-piece suit – Lands’ End; ombre coverup – Lands’ End; floral swimsuit – L.L.Bean x Summersalt; coral bisque swimshirt – L.L.Bean
I won’t be getting to accessories here until AFTER we look at our six paintings… Given the state of my memory, you may have to nag me!
love,
Janice
p.s. Ten years ago, I considered what sweater colors were available for heroines for all “color seasons.” Nobody truly gets neglected, although some seasons are harder to find than others!
p.p.s. I just finished reading Art is Life by Jerry Saltz. He’s an art critic, which is sort of amazing when you read the last chapter of the book and find out how he actually GOT into the art world. You probably don’t know all of the artists – I would be impressed if you do! – but his writing is astonishingly evocative and just plain intelligent. You’ll spend half your time on your phone looking up paintings…

The styles here are fantastic. I love the cardigan- sad that it only comes in dusty pink. Dusty colors are unkind to me. You are so right about the gauze dress in the heat of summer. Our summers have been increasingly hot here in Idaho, so I have my eye on that one. 😍 The soft peach sweater is lovely!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I truly appreciate your taking the time to feature this bathing suit, which is my favorite. I do LOVE bright colors and this post has made look at the colors in my suit with a softer eye and a more muted touch. I am particularly enamored by the Accent Four. As I am planning for my vacation in April, I will be sure to look the capsule over carefully and to include much of this palette. Merci bien!
Anything for you, my friend!
love,
Janice
Coral bisque. Reminds ne of Miami in the 50s. Love it!
I used a slightly brighter version of this colorway on a cruise in November. Loved it!
I have always loved your style and color combinations. I think the best thing is that the clothing and accessories are priced within reach for most people.
I work REALLY hard to try to find things that don’t cost a fortune – I know too many women for whom that kind of suggestion would just be wasted, and kind of nasty! We can be beautiful and have our own style without going into debt…
love,
Janice
10 out of 10 for the wardrobe, 20 out of 10 for your kind and compassionate soul
This is all so gorgeous!! I went to the websites and added to cart on several items, immediately! :)
I bought 3 gauze dresses last summer that looked very much like the one shown. Navy, a medium sage color and white. They were so cool in our extreme heat. The colors were okay but the white was too sheer so I used rit dye, denim, and the white dress came out a lovely medium periwinkle color. I already had numerous accessories to match all three. Super win for me.
Much to my surprise, I love this color palette. I never wear any of these colors, rarely even white, but on the whole, this feels warm and gentle.
I really love this one. Both style and colours are not quiet my thing but makes me reconsider a few things in my own closet. The dress and the cardigan would work together, I think… I’ll have to try the two look a likes in my closet and see if it it works.
I love this! I have purged my closet and now have a capsule wardrobe of 30 pieces* plus 20 additional “seasonal fun” pieces which each can be used in at least 2-3 outfits. One of my two accent colors is pink, ranging from blush to a deeper cottage rose. I am having much fun “stocking up” right now as there are so many pink options and several of my pieces needed replacing. Thank you for this. I look forward to reading your posts.
* My neutrals are black, ivory, caramel, gray for fall/winter; and black, white, stone, navy for spring/summer. Besides pink my other accent color is blues ranging from cadet blue to robin’s egg.
Thanks for featuring this swimsuit, Janice. It’s so pretty and feminine. Love how you made the wardrobe with softer colors.
So funny to see your Choice today I’ve just noticed that I’m wearing a pale pink. Pale coral with white background floral skirt and pale coral top on . I’ve been going through radiation , chemo & associated hair loss etc but I feel quite pretty wearing these colours thanks for all you do .
Dear Olga,
Good luck with your treatment – there’s lots of love and support here, so keep us informed about your progress!
love,
and hugs,
Janice
Olga, sounds lovely! Good luck with treatment and keep your spirits up! It’s a tough time, I know. I learned to crochet little hats for myself when I had only about five hairs total. I took pictures of myself and now, twelve years later, I laugh. Again, Good luck and Best Wishes!
Beautiful swimsuit…I love these colors. 🌸🌷🪻🌺🌿
I would like to get a eucalyptus colored dress (instead of the white one).
Oh yes, I’m also excited about the accessories.
If any one knows – the Summersalt swimsuits lack support in the chest area, sometimes they even lack extra lining there. Does any one know if this collaboration with LL Bean is the same? LL Bean swimsuits are typically pretty well constructed in the chest area, so I am wondering.
