My Favorite Posts: Packing with Camel

October 10, 2015

I’m not sure exactly why I love these so much, because I never wear camel! But I really love the way the richness of the color works so beautifully with deep jewel tones, or soft pastels. If I had the coloring to look gorgeous in camel, I’d be ALL over it…

A rich and elegant presentation. I don't wear camel, either — far too warm for me — but these groupings do look lovely.

I am so glad that you continue to share camel options even though you do not wear it. I am a camel girl. My first camel hair coat was worn until it was absolutely thread bare. Loved that coat and it played well with every other color. I am considering letting my dark (colored) hair go to gray and I fear that it may not work well with camel. If that is the case I will have a problem. LOTS of camel in my closet.!

I agree with Susan. I have dark blond hair going grey, mixing the camel with grey or navy (as per the third example) works perfectly – it's not just about hair, its also skin tone so if you always enjoyed wearing camel you will still suit it, it just needs careful balancing with grey/silver elements.

You'll still be able to wear it, but you might have to adjust your accent colors.

thanks Ladies. I am fair and freckled and the camel has always worked. The whole go gray or not thing has been haunting me.

Camel & wine is such a classic combination.

Loving these oldie but goodie posts, Janice. It's so interesting to see what you, yourself, consider your most appealing wardrobes (whether you can wear them or not!).

Camel is also one of my goto colors, I love revisiting all these past wonderful posts and thinking of all the ways I can wear the colors. My favorite at the moment would be with navy or olive. Thanks for these trips down memory lane!!

Wow. You know you need another cup of coffee when you read "Packing a Camel" & think, geez, Janice must be going somewhere *really* interesting . . . .

I love this, too, but alas, can't wear it either.

These are my colors and I am in love with the combinations. I wore black and grey for so many years and didn't consider anything else until I had my colors "done" last spring. Now I am working in these colors as I replace items. Luckily, camel, burgundy and teal look good with both black and grey because I couldn't bring myself to toss everything and start over!
