I’m in very deep water here…

I have absolutely nothing to say here today except Thank You.

Thank You for reading The Vivienne Files.
Thank You for commenting.
Thank You for sending me email suggestions, ideas, and criticisms.
Thank You for getting in touch with me when you’re going to be in Chicago, so we can get together.
The Vivienne Files is my full-time work.  It’s a labor of love, feminism, environmentalism, and the joy of color, beauty, and feeling confident every day.
All this work would be wasted without you.  And I know it.
Love, really, from my heart,
Janice

Congratulations on your 1,000th post! It's a major milestone, and represents more dedication, long hours, and eye strain than I think any of us can fully appreciate. Thank you for your commitment to giving us all a daily dose of beauty, a spark of inspiration, and occasionally an entirely new way of looking at the world. Looking forward to the next thousand posts!

Congratulations and thank you! Your blog is the first site I open each day (even when I know it's a day off!), and I continuously mine your archive for fresh perspectives. I'm not quite "there" yet – I'm not sure I'll ever be a true minimalist – but my wardrobe is slowly becoming more "me". Here's to another 1000!!!

Congratulations! Question: You say The Vivienne Files is your full-time work. Do you mean that literally, as in it is the way your earn your living? Or do you mean in the sense that it is fulfilling, your passion, your creative outlet? (I've been reading your archives and you are "currently" working in a bakery, so I'm curious about how your employment has evolved since then.)

I just cannot say how valuable I have found your blog to be in my wardrobe life. I'm sitting here in my living room on a lovely summer day wearing a crisp cotton skirt and a simple cotton knit tee, but the skirt is lined and well-constructed (Boden) and the tee has a V-neck and is in a shade I probably wouldn't have paired with the skirt before absorbing your color knowledge and sense. I look pretty, though I say it myself, and yet I am utterly comfortable. I have YOU to thank for that!

Well, I don't have any other employment than The Vivienne Files. It works out really well right now, because we have a few older relatives with health issues, and my work flexibility makes caring for them much easier. But no, I don't really earn anything that could qualify as a living. I get some money from Google, in exchange for the ads that appear on the blog, I earn small commissions on some of the links that I have to specific items (but that's not the criteria by which I choose items, believe me!), and of course I earn some money from the wardrobe and color documents. But The Vivienne Files couldn't survive without the support of Belovedest, and of you all, of course!

Hi, Janice! Susan S. here, still logging in as "Anonymous". Many congratulations on this milestone! I love reading your columns and find them incredibly helpful. You have such excellent taste and are an inspiration for me and obviously many others. As to Chicago, my husband and I were there at the end of June, and I was actually thinking of contacting you to see if we could get together (spot you to beignets at Grand Lux Café?) but I was concerned it would be intrusive. Now I know better. Thank you again for your wonderful column. I look forward to reading it every day. Here's to at least 1,000 more! Warmest regards, Susan

Believe us when we say, it has been simply a pleasure to read this blog.

You've taken me from clueless to focussed: I now have a very clear idea of the direction my wardrobe will be taking, and even how to try out one or two accent colours.

I can honestly say, I no longer watch french films in quite the same way: I warch what the women are wearing, and see all your principles winking back at me!

    Congrats on your anniversaire!

Congratulations from a long-time follower! 1,000 posts! Wonderful!!! I remember your earliest posts with great fondness — I knew I'd stumbled on a fresh take on style.
I look at the world of color completely differently since beginning to read your blog. But also, in a sea of blogs that encourage unconscious consumption, yours rises above with its innovative POV driven by environmental sustainability and a feminist vision of people choosing beauty wisely, carefully, and ethically, rather than being slaves to corporate dictates to buy buy buy that are burning the world to a crisp. You are an inspiration. Keep up the wonderful work! You are appreciated by so many.

I am using your wonderful work in the Starting from Scratch posts, even as I write today, to plan and shop for my fall/winter wardrobe and I know I will use it often in the years to come. It is the epitome of careful thought, planning and generosity on your part. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Dear Janice, we are the ones who should be thanking YOU! As a novice blogger (just over 250 posts) I am constantly inspired by your posts and occasionally pinch your brilliant ideas (with acknowledgements, of course). When I started out on my journey my wardrobe was a rainbow of colours – many of which didn't do me any favours -but now it's more streamlined, versatile and flattering and it's down to your good influence. I'm looking forward to the next 1,000 posts!

I especially love those made by people/women who are not mainstream retailers but artisans. How wonderful it is that, via the 'net, someone (ME!) from Australia can buy beautiful, unique jewellery from anywhere the world and have it arrive at my home in no time at all !!
