Imaginary shopping: a wee “pick-me-up”, in pink

My last springtime adventure in imaginary shopping is the “how to experiment with a fashion color” question.  I’m totally smitten with this striped top, and my desire for it would be sufficient to convince me to introduce pink into my wardrobe for six months or a year – however long the top lasts.

Here is a case in which I would NOT spend a lot of money on jewelry, and I would buy a decent pair of shoes or sandals, but not a long-term investment pair.  This small shopping spree is designed to brighten up my wardrobe for spring, indulge in a garment which I love, and participate in the “brightly colored pants” trend, without breaking the bank.

Tee shirt – J. Crew, cropped pants –
Diane von Furstenberg, pink earrings – Tarina
Tarantino, sandals – Betsey Johnson

These are the basic spring and summer garments that I’m going to use to leverage my purchases:

And this is how I’m going to use my purchases.  For a short-term treat like this, I would expect that I’d be wearing both new garments AT LEAST once a week through the spring and summer…

What a great way to stay on trend , without breaking the bank. I love adding a pop of color to your wardrobe. It doesn't have to expensive once you have your core pieces.

I can't get on board with the brightly colored pants trend. As a rule, I try to keep attention AWAY from my rear!

Just a pop of pink is all you need and you've covered this really cleverly.

I found a mention of the top on another website – seems it's sold out and won't be coming back.

I have a frustration with HM. There was a beautiful bracelet in a March 12 magazine, but HM customer service said it would be in the shops in week 16. Except it's from their Trend line, so it will only be in a VERY few of their stores. And no, they won't put it aside for you, and yes, they get merchandise every day, so do I plan to hound one of the shops who MIGHT get it every day for a couple of weeks? No. And the bracelet being so exclusive is of course not available on their website. Though the matching necklace was there last week. *rant over*

I love your suggestions but I too am a little afraid of pink pants.
On the other hand, I could use a break from grey, black and brown, so who knows?

You make this look so simple when you deconstruct it this way.
My basics are black but with summer on the way I need that pop of colour.
Hope that you have a fabulous weekend!
