  1. I had thought you might have included taupe as part of your beige/camel/tan options and am so pleased to discover you haven't!

Taupe is a great shade for those with cooler colouring preferences but is so often confused with the warmer version of 'neutrals' that many of us avoid neutral shades altogether for fear of not getting it quite right. Look up 'taupe' on clothing websites and you'll see what I mean as so many tones are (many incorrectly in my opinion) gathered under this umbrella.

Also there is the variation of appellatives: 'stone', 'mink', 'greige'. Some will be warm and some will be cool - it's a minefield!! See under

No wonder us cool types stick to no-brainer black and grey! However, there are some lovely taupes here: wish I had the budget for the Stella trio, really classic. Thanks, Vivienne.

  2. I am loving your site. Would love to see a black/brown wardrobe for older women with white/silver hair.

  3. Lovely! So sophisticated. The Max Mara dress is especially gorgeous.

  4. I just sent someone your way to read your blog and be inspired for vacation packing.

You have also inspired me for my upcoming 24-day vacation to Italy/Greece/Spain. I saved some of your earlier pictures from a post you did about a business trip wardrobe, and I am happy to report that I am bringing fewer clothes THAN MY HUSBAND. You really are inspiring and are keeping us focused on buying fewer items of quality for a beautiful, functional wardrobe.
